Rejuvination

Freshly back from a joyful jaunt to San Diego. Picnic-ed on the patio, laughed, lounged, and lamented with family, and got groovy with Grandma on the dance floor. What more could you ask for? During the birthday chaos, some relative of the tooth fairy snuck into my purse. Thank you whoever you are! To my non-family readers: if you don't know the O'Sullivans, you should.

I am feeling pretty good about being back. (Although while in CA, I was thinking it wouldn't be half-bad to teach in the San Diego area, with its dry climate, recycling, and relatives...) The oak trees here look like storybook goblins (large curvy arms sometimes stretching all the way to the ground), and the colorful shutters make all the old houses look like the windows are eyes and they're wearing makeup. And despite the fact that I've decided that po' boys are just good sandwiches on bad bread, there are some distinctly wonderful things about this strange locale. I am going to make a deliberate effort to be more optimistic beginning right now.

Another good omen: Our house, although struck by lightning, is generally in good shape post-storms. Family, friends, my little sister starting college!

La vie continue.
