On their test, my students were supposed to use their knowledge of prefixes and suffixes to make educated guesses at various words. Here are some of the best responses I've received so far:
subzero = no sub.
intergalactic = to completely galact something.
subzero = the man on the Mortal Kombat game
submarine = to sub a marine.
I promise I am teaching some of them something.
