Schnidkt!

(This is the action sound my friend Brian makes when he jumps in to make a valliant rescue; like Wolverine releasing his blades.)

We made it back down here to the bayou- although for a minute there things were looking dicey. The hangover probably helped. Ashlee called me the morning we were scheduled to leave. I was diagonally positioned across a couch, across the river, across town. I assumed we were getting together for breakfast before our departure. "So, funny story..." she began.

12:30 am and 12:30 pm are not the same, turns out.

Erin and John helped us stack an eternity's worth of suitcases into the Chevy Celeb and dropped us at PDX in style.

We returned to a backyard that has became significantly more jungly in our absence.

The pumpkin plant grew arms like beanstalks.

Instead of trying to sum up my recent travels, here are a few snapshots:

My parents and Chris, saving the day. Chilling with musicians on the OR coast. (Clam Chowder and the Percussion Kitchen was our name.)
We hung out with sea lions. (They really sealed the deal on the whole trip.) They were hooting, hollering, and snoring. One child suggested it was because we woke them up. A fair hypothesis, I think.

John met a nice girl.Erin came to party. We did. It was the first day back at Truman today- we get kids next week. I'm excited. Not necessarily eager, but no longer scared. I'm scheduled right now to teach seventh grade ELA, which is good- because I'll be familiar with a lot of my students. 09-0-10 here we come!
