Prompts

One of my kids' most recent writing prompts was a to describe a time they made a bad decision. This is what I learned about one of my seventh grade girls:
Girl talked about her in gym. She walked up to said girl and challenged her to "say that again." Girl did. My girl punched other girl. Kicked her while she was down. Put her into a coma.

Went to visit her at the hospital. Girl came to. My student asked how she was and girl responded by calling her "stupid, ugly white trash."

My girl pulled the plug.

She had to go to jail for a year and is on severe probation. She wrote that it was hard in jail, but that she feels like the punishment was too harsh. "I mean, she didn't die."

Oh. My. Gosh.

In other news: next week we are practicing comparing poetry using Chris Brown and David Bowie. YAY!
